Fitting a smallbore to a JR

Post by Dustin Clays »

I recently bought a used Anschutz 1903 for my daughter to compete with her JR club and to use at Camp Perry this summer (NRA SPORTS camp). It came with an ESP adjustable butt-stock and an ESP adjustable cheek piece. As near as I can tell ESP is out of business.

My question is- how to I adjust this to fit her correctly? Is there a website or book/video that discusses proper gun fit? Or is it a trial and error thing? Measurements or such?

Thanks for any tips/advise. (Total newbie with the smallbore stuff).

A great book that can give you as much detail as you want is "Ways of the Rifle". Find it on many of the competition vendors websites.

I think this is probably my #1 "go to" book on fitting a new rifle

For complete newbies I would recommend Rifle: Steps to Success over Ways of the Rifle, at least at first. Both are great books, but Ways is a lot of information to absorb initially. Steps is more accessible for rookies, I think, and has sections for setting up each position for a new shooter.

Thank you- these were the books I was looking for- Not sure why I didn't check Amazon- looks like there are quite a few on there.

Thanks again!
