2015 Pan Am Games pistol events?

Post by IPshooter »

Does anyone know which pistol events will be fired at the 2015 PAG? Some time ago, they used to fire all 5 ISSF pistol events. But more recently, they've just shot AP, FP and RFP.

Also, is there any continental championship for the USST in pistol next year?

I am pretty sure the 2015 PAG will have AP, FP, RFP, and SP.

Which 5th event are you referring to? CF?

Hi Trinity,

Thanks for the reply.

Before the more recent emphasis on the Olympic pistol events in the PAG, all 5 of the ISSF men's events were fired: AP, FP, RFP, Standard and Center Fire. This is the same structure as at the World Championships.

So the question is will Standard and Center Fire be included?

To this day I genuinely believe that ALL pistol events should be mixed. That also means the merging of STP with SP. I want FP to stay the way it is, I want RFP to go back to a very simple silhouette (just the eight sided coffin with a target around the chest, with no "human shape silhouette drawn". STP/SP exclusively use semi-automatic, and use NRA 900 rule. CFP going back to use revolvers only, and to be at 45 caliber. Leave the air pistol the way it is, except to make it three position. Anyway, after that we can simply call them "free pistol" "Silhouette", "Semi-automatic" "Revolver" "Air pistol". Much more easier for the public to understand.

Screw the public! I don't see them at any match I've been to lately. Isn't it bad enough we have the ISSF making silly, inane rule changes to make an uncaring public happy. I'm in this sport for ME, not Joe Schmoe from Kokomo.

Hey guys I follow the Pan Ams really close so I have some info for you.

There will be 15 events (all 15 on the Olympic program) so no Pan Am Only events.

The venue is CFB Borden which is a hour north of Toronto.

Any more question feel free to ask :)

IIRC 1999 was the last year they had non-Olympic events at PAG. Maybe 1995. Certainly not in 2003.

It was at Buenos Aires 1995 the last time when non-Olympic pistol events were shot in a PAG. I'm not sure, but many since discontinued longarm disciplines were also disputed, like 10 m. running target and 300 m rifle.
