USA Shooting & New Clothing rules

Post by jhmartin »

I just received this and assume it is for at least the 2013 year:

Mike,
Pass the word that USAS will NOT implement the new ISSF clothing regulations for USAS sanctioned competitions. Also, 2013 USAS Rules will be posted on our website next week – hopefully Monday.

Agreed...unfortunately the Rocky Mtn Rifle Championships is running under ISSF rules as a precursor so our shooters are going to shoot the JOSC then modify their clothing, so on the upside for Nationals they will be ISSF compliant even if the USAS isnt! ;)

Not Exactly .... here is the response I got from Wanda in Mid-Dec:
Hi Joel,

USAS is not adopting the new boot rule until after 2014. Pants rule about the seat pad is being adopted and the jackets will remain the same. At Rocky Mountain, the stance will be taken that we are teaching the athletes and any non-compliance will be pointed out.

We are probably going to follow the new Finals format as it is an excellent training venue to introduce them to both our athletes and range officials.

We will be providing a lot in the way of Match Directors Bulletins for this match. Wanda

So I'm sending my shooter with a seam ripper for the pants seat pad ... if necessary. I'm not going to mod the pants unless they require it at Rocky at EC.

Update ...
USAS Rules are out:
For the JOs note the clarification in 6.11.1
2013 Junior Olympic Championships will be held under the 2012 USA Shooting rules
ALSO ... regarding Jackets & Boots ... USAS is NOT addopting the new rules with the clarification:
(USAS Clarification: Shooting shoe measurements will not be adopted. Athletes making any USAS teams in will be expected to comply with this rule before any travel with the team.)
Jacket 7.5.4.5: (USAS Clarification: USA Shooting will not adopt this rule. Any athlete making any USAS Team will be required to comply before any team travel.)

However, the pants is adopted with another USAS clarification:
(USA Shooting Clarification: The seat pad on current trousers may simply be removed to meet the new rule)
