Replacement mag springs for Benelli MP90S?

Post by Leon »

Anybody know what springs from another pistol will fit a Benelli MP90S .22 magazine? I'd like something with a bit more tension than the standard factory springs which seem quite weak.

For instance, I replaced my FAS 607 mag springs with a Ruger MKII mag spring cut to size, and that change cured all feeding issues with longer cartridges such as CCI SV.

The MIT collegiate pistol team shoots Benellis, and I have become the de-facto gunsmith because I have a personal one and am familiar with them. We have quite a few magazine springs, but the collection is a bit disorganized, and I don't know which are new & which are old. Some show a bit of wear & are clearly used, but there a variety of lengths.

I figured I'd buy a couple new ones & measure them The two I received are different lengths, so I'm still not sure. It may be that the newer ones are longer to address the strength issue, or it may just be manufacturing variations.

In the past I have disassembled magazines and inserted spacers below the spring to increase return pressure. I am unfamiliar with the MP90s mag, but it may be worthy of consideration.
