Blood Pressure and Impact on Scores

Post by shadow »

Has anyone done a study on blood pressure and its impact on scores? My bottom number is 10 points higher than normal. I just shot some air pistol and while the results were not dismal I had very few 10s. .....just wondering

In regards BP, I constantly have to remind the shooters here to keep their non-shooting hand out of their pocket.

Rover you are just nasty : )

To the OP;

Are you talking about high blood pressure or the taking of high blood pressure medication while shooting ?

I do have some insight with my personal experience with taking medication for high blood pressure while shooting.

I am just referring to the increase in blood pressure - temporary - possibly due to food (salt) or other factors.

shadow;

I still do not know exactly what you are asking.

Your blood pressure should be constant whether it be high or low and changes through out the day.

It changes from consuming different things.

My experience is not to eat anything an hour or so before you shoot but that is just me.
I shoot better hungry.

Coffee used to bother me before shooting.
Now I can drink coffee while I am shooting.

When I shot Skeet competatively I found if I took my blood pressure medication it slowed my reaction time, so that was a no no, so I took it in the afternoon after shooting.

For me sugar is a no no, period.

Too many variables.
It is all about YOUR metabalism and your ability to shoot.
Do not go by statistics or studies, they are not about YOU.

A study was conducted on heart rate and shooting but I don't know of anything published on bp.
