Looking for a 10m Rifle.

Post by acrybb »

Hi,

I joined the forum a few weeks ago and im sure i said hello. If not Hello :).

Im shooting at my local club 10m stuff. I already have an air arms S400 which isnt usable for 10m as it is scoped and it is difficult to get open/dioptre sights for it.

So i am looking at PCP 10m rifles. I see that Air Arms do a http://http://www.air-arms.co.uk/products_s200.html S200 Target/CZ200 which is a little smaller & lighter than the S400 would this be a good beginners choice?

If not can you suggest a PCP not far from this price range.

Thanks
Andy

Look at the Air Arms MPR Precision which is designed for 10-m shooting.

For UK specific requests you might do better to ask on the Stirton Forum (membership required).

Whilst there is nothing in the ISSF rules to stop you using a 12 ft lb air rifle, which is also legal in the UK without a certificate, I understand that most 10m competition shooters prefer much lower power.

You should be able to swap the aa400 into a MPR stock and turm down the hammer spring to 6 fee. The aa400 platform is pretty good for an entry level Rifle. 12 fpe might be tough on the targets.

If there's nothing to stop me using 12lbs on 10 m that would allow me to use the same rifle for 25m target?

I'm not gonna compete. At least not for a while so I might as well get a feel for what I like. So if I can 10 + 25 with the same rifle then cool. Well that's if there is a25m air rifle lol :)

I'm such a noobie to this lol apologies

I'm not aware of any 25m air rifle competition that target sights would be suitable for.

What do they say at your local club?

The shooting club e-mailed me back. I'm glad I went for 6lbs as its max at 10m is 8. Or 12lbs into pellet catchers @ 25m

Well a £1500-£2000 rifle it aint. Still i was impressed. Without fine tuning anything apart from the sight and me having only just my 4th week at this. and using practice pellets. I tried competition pellets and they were noticeably more accurate.

Once the sight was dialed in and i had put a fair few pellets through it to shoot it in.

My First target was grouped inside 20mm box.

Second target my 1st shot was a sneezer/premature ejaculation call it what you will, it wasnt meant. The other 4 shots were inside a 15mm box.

Third target slightly bigger spread BUT I had 3 pellets in the same hole left to right all shots were inside 20mm 4 of which inside 15mm again and the 3 in the same hole.

Same thing for the 4th target.

5th target was a bit wayward my air was running low must have shot over 100 shots tonight i was tired and gun was almost empty combo of both.

Main thing for me? ALL shots were on scoring surface.

Like the gun. I can see this being a good while before i feel the need to upgrade.
