Final in Slovenia
Browning takes aim during the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Shotgun in Tucson, Ariz.
Kayle Browning (Wooster, Ark.) won a bronze medal at the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Cup London earlier this spring and punched her ticket to compete in the World Cup Final in Slovenia. Browning, competing with an invite-only crowd-the best in the world-finished sixth overall with 84/100 targets.
Headed into the final, Browning was tied for sixth with Italy's Giulia Iannotti at 67/75 targets. Browning fired 17/25 targets in the final-just one shy of Iannotti's 18-to finish sixth overall. Finalnd's Satu Makela-Nummela took home the gold medal with an impressive 93/100 targets. Jessica Rossi of Italy was second with 92 and Jana Beckmann of Germany won the bronze with 91 targets.
Browning's teammate, 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Corey Cogdell (Eagle River, Alaska) was tenth overall with 64/75 targets. Cogdell started strong with 22/25 targets, but had trouble with the second round shooting 19 targets.
The ISSF World Cup Final continues tomorrow with competition in Men's Trap. Josh Richmond (USAMU/Hillsgrove, Pa.) will compete in double trap and Brandy Drozd (Bryan, Texas) and Caitlin Connor(Winnfield, La.) will represent Team USA in Women's Skeet.
