Pistols of FP finalists 2012 London Olympics

Post by conradin »

I think these are the pistols the finalists use for the FP today:
1 CHOI Young Rae 569 (Morini CM84E)
2 WANG Zhiwei 566 (Morini CM84E)
3 ZLATIC Andrija 564 (Hämmerli FP60)
4 HOANG Xuan Vinh 563 (Pardini K22)
5 JIN Jongoh 562 (Morini CM84E)
6 REITZ Christian 560 12x (Hämmerli 150)
7 EKIMOV Leonid 560 7x (TOZ 35)
8 Giordano Giuseppe 559 49.6 (Morini CM84E)

Of course until I see the Web Stream coverage I cannot be sure.

Another Morini CM84E Sweep.
1 Republic of Korea JIN Jongoh 562 100.0 662.0
2 Republic of Korea CHOI Young Rae 569 92.5 661.5
3 People's Republic of China WANG Zhiwei 566 92.6 658.6

Choi managed to lose the gold to Jin at the very last shot despite leading the competition almost from start to finish. (8.1 vs 10.2). How Jin managed to dig himself out of the hole I have no idea. He was 7 points behind! Experience I guess. Congrats to Jin, first FP shooter managed to defend his Olympic title, and also first person to win both the AP60 and the FP title at the same game.

IMHO, Reitz is now shooting a Morini (http://www.zimbio.com/photos/Christian+Reitz). And my impression was that Andija Zlatic is using a TOZ. Great final by Jin, only one without a bad shot. Congrats!

Taped the final and watching it now. Ekimov and Zlatic were shooting toz. All the rest were shooting Morini.

True. Pics are up on ISSFs website now, too. Pity though, Hoang has been seen shooting a Pardini in the past, would have been good to see new brands at the top.

Is it just me or does Choi's fp look longer than other morini fps.

What a beautiful photo of Christian Reitz. I wonder how many of you would do the same thing...kissing your own beloved pistol.

Andrija Zlatic, a Walther marksman in Walther's homepage, using a TOZ 35 during the Olympics. Notice how much forward his left hand is...it is to the right side of the belt buckle area.

Leonid Ekimov, another Walther marksman, using the TOZ 35. Notice the front sight.

The master....and a beautiful photo of him consoling his teammate whom he chased down to snatch the gold. PS. Where can I find Jin's shoes for sale? They look awesome.

HOANG Xuan Vinh, ditched his Pardini K22 that he used for Olympic qualifying in Vietnam and now using a Morini. Should have been the story of the day. Bronze until the last shot. I hope we will see him more often, especially on a podium soon! Notice the lack of tournament stickers on his grip, a sure sign that he recently started to use this pistol.

I think in another thread they are identified as weightlifting shoes.

How rigid is the sole compare with shooting shoes like Corami or Sauer? The Korean team must have figured something out by using these shoes.
