JROTC chain of command?
Does anyone know who is the command authority for JROTC rifle teams? Pretty much I am just wondering who provides instruction to the new coaches for the JROTC teams. Any help would be great.
Here in New Mexico we have Major Bill Barker USMC Ret. who holds a coaches clinic at the beginning of the school year for new coaches. He is the head of the JROTC programs for the Albuquerque Public Schools and is known throughtout the state as well for his work with youth shooting programs. The clinic is held at the same time as a novice match so new coaches can see and experience a shoulder to shoulder match while attending this course.
You might want to check with your state's shooting sports association, 4H county extension agent, or with one of the other JROTC coaches in your area as to where they went to their coaches clinic. They may be able to point you in the right direction. I have also found that most coaches in the areas are willing to lend a helping hand or give advice when needed.
There is also the NRA Coach Education Program that you can look into as well. Here is a link that shows a list of schools and their locations.

I hope this helps.
