CZ 97 as a BE pistol

I will admit to trying to build a BE pistol off a different platform than a 1911 (done that already). I started this thread about the CZ97 and other people have taken it and really explored some interesting posibilites with this pistol. There appears to be some good results to date.

I have not financial interest in CZ or anything to do with this thread.

Have a look for yourself there is a CZ with a 1911 bushing- very interesting.

The 97B is probably a good candidate to experiment with. These seem to have very decent accuracy right out of the box.

Rumor has it that there's 97 Sport available, as a semi-custom production pistol, which is intended as a match grade 45. But I've never seen one, and don't know much about them.

I was going to use the CZ97B for the Centerfire portion of a 2700 during the summer but I missed a bunch of matches. I've decided to shoot revolver in Centerfire to try to get distinuguished but I did have my CZ modified for Bullseye. My thread is below from the CZ Forum.

Removal of Firing Pin Block

I didn't do the modifications that were mentioned in your thread with the bushing and slide refit. Perhaps in the future. I do think it could be a terrific Bullseye gun.

Here's a thread on TFL in which one of the members describes his results from a bushing conversion on the 97B. They're pretty impressive.

One of the main reasons the 97 is so accurate out of the box is due to the rear support of the barrel/slides single locking lug. CZ does an outstanding job of consistently machining the rear in a precision manner. The problem (if you could call it a problem) is the front screw in bushing is loose in the frame, and has between .004"-.006" clearance between the stock bushing ID and the barrel OD. You merely fit an oversized 1911 bushing just as would on a 1911. I bore the slide to .697-.699", fit the bushing OD, then fit the barrel clearance at .001". This turns the 97 into the most accurate 45 I have ever owned (and I've had some top shelf 1911's). My single best 25 yard benchrest group with my accurized 97 is 5 shots in 9/16", center to center.
