IT's JO QUALIFIER TIME AGAIN!

Post by jhmartin »

It's that time of year .... no, not Thanksgiving or Christmas, but time for the International JO Qualifiers.

Here are a few reminders on some equipment checks coaches should do on their shooters before they shoot the qualifiers and then go up to Colorado Springs in April. This is for rifle shooters.

1) Check out rule 7.4.1.3.4.1
Your blinders can only be 30mmx100mm

2) Study 7.4.2.1 ... 10m Air Rifle Buttplate can be offset 15mm left or right OR may be turned about the vertical axis ... NOT BOTH. Turning on the Horizontal axis is not permitted. We had to have quite a few shooters fix this at Winter Airgun.
Note here that the USAS rulebook is missing the drawing in 7.4.2.1.1. You can see the drawing in the ISSF rules.

3) Another drawing missing in the USAS rules is 7.4.7.7.7 --- JACKETS & overlap allowed. (See ISSF Rules) Too many shooters have jackets that are too tight. If you don't check them before you send a shooter, send them with the means to move the buttons (a punch & screwdriver for the buttons)....

4) Related to this is rule 7.5.1.2.4:
The rifle must not touch the jacket or chest beyond the area of the right shoulder and right chest. Please check this. If you have to adjust the jacket or more likely grind the handgrip on the stock, the time to do so is before they come to the JOs ... not when a range officer has to pull them off the line.

We really are not trying to upset the kids & make the girls cry (As I was accused of this morning in fun .... I think)
