How should I be maintaining my Baikal, and what oil should I use that's available in the UK?
Also, what's a good sight blacking that I can get in the UK? Carbide doesn't seem to be available.

Use a silicone oil; no petroleum types.

A candle stub works pretty well for blackening sights.

There is a small orifice on the top of the pumping tube, don't forget to drop some oil in there, along with all the moving parts.
Look at page 5 of this manual if you need help finding it

I use Bisley Gun Lubricant, this comes in a 30ml plastic bottle and should not be confused with the general purpose Bisley Gun Oil also in their range.

It is a silicone/molybdenum mix, suitable for use on metal-to-metal surfaces and also on seals.

Abbey SM50 is, I think, similar, although I've not used it myself.
