Getting Started

Post by hamerlihead »

I started BE pistol back a few months ago.
Is there a good source for learning the basics of shooting?

Something that covers: stance, breath, aiming techniques, do's and do nots, occluding, etc.

I'm sure there is a wealth of knowledge that could be gathered from the users of this forum.

What is considered the proper position for your feet and body?
What is the rythym for breath for best accuracy?
Just what are you aiming at/with using a Red-Dot?
Just what should be in focus as you sight?
Does occluding vs. eye closed work for everyone?
Just how tight do you grip the pistol?
Etc...

Thank You

Red dots are easy. Both eyes open, everything is in focus, and you put the red thingie inside the black thingie.

You can worry about the other stuff when shooting iron sights.

You will find copies of the USAMU Pistol marksmanship manual at various places including this forum, and at the AMU. Write them by snailmail or make contact by internet. Another source is the CMS also included on this forum. This and the bullseye forum will be primary sources for what you are requesting. Good Shooting Bill Horton
