getting boys started in air pistol

Post by Guest »

I have 2 boys that love to shoot. What are the steps involved in getting them set up for air pistol competitions and such. I live in Dayton TN.
I'd appreciate any information that you can give me.

Thank you,

Some of the obvious things that come to mind would be search for junior clubs in your area - even if they are air rifle, some also dabble in air pistol. Depending on their ages, they should start at the appropriate level for Progressive Air Pistol. That's a program where the younger shooters get to rest the pistol (or the hand that's holding it) on a sandbag. There's various levels of progress to finally holding the pistol with one hand. I'm a rifle coach, so don't have more specifics, but that gives you a bit of a start.

Check with Bob Foth at USAS. There is a progressive position pistol shooting program in place (PPP). He will steer you in the right direction
