HBWC in Australia - Where are they?

Been away while most of this thread has been running. Just back from MISC Open in Melbourne at the weekend and everyone appears to be having trouble sourcing lead projectiles.
Seems to be very few manufacturers at the moment. Bullzi has a 6-8 week delay on orders and appears to be the only one churning them out in any numbers, although Hawkesbury River is back on line with a new owner. I prefer Taipan HBWC for my .38 but I don't think any have come as far as Victoria for a long while.
As a matter of interest in the past month I have visited about 10 gun shops in Melbourne, Gippsland, Cooma, Canberra, Queenbeyan, Goulburn and Woollongong and none have had any lead projectiles in stock.
I have about 300 Taipans left and will be using them sparingly.

Has anybody contacted the manufacturers to find out what is causing the problem? It can't be lack of demand.
Maybe we will have to shoot Sport Pistol for a while :)

Good quality projectiles are made here in NZ. I suppose freight charges would make them pretty costly, if moved across the ditch (assuming export / import is legal).

That's just great - now That I've almost run out of Taipan 38 HBWC, there appears to be none left anywhere...

I've started research into swaging my own - obtaining the press and dies is not a ptroblem but securing local supplies of lead core wire in the correct size and composition( % tin, % antimony ) may be....

This is the website for taipan bullets - fairly recently updated. Seems like he is back in business, but you will have to buy in bulk and wear the freight charges - count your blessings that you dont live in Darwin, the freight will kill you.

Thanks Top End, I'd noticed the update on his web site but according to the dealers here, nothing is happening.

Guess we'll just have to keep our ears to the ground.
